Don’t be afraid to promote yourself.  My clients have informed me that the hardest part of resume writing is expressing what they do, and what they have achieved on paper.  My advice to them is to brainstorm.  Sit down and think about what they have accomplished.  Think about any education obtained, professional accomplishments and even volunteer work performed. All of these things can be invaluable to a potential employer.
You work hard, you have gained experience that makes you a valuable commodity to an employer.
